“Skin rejuvenation for your pigmentation issues.”
Your Laser Treatment for Hyperpigmentation and Skin Resurfacing:
Non-surgical, quick and effective.
Targets only the melanin in the pigmented lesion or blood vessel.
Visible clinical improvement while protecting the epidermis.
Almost all people have one or more pigmented lesion. Some are prompted by sun exposure, some simply appear by aging while others are congenital. Lesions can be flat or raised. But what are pigmented lesions? Briefly, they are spots on the skin where there is a higher concentration of melanin. In most cases, pigmented lesions are only a cosmetic concern. However, they should always be examined carefully as they can be an early sign of skin cancer.
For most of the benign pigmented lesions that are of a cosmetic concern, there is a non-surgical option available. At the Laser Center of Milford, the Alma Harmony®XL – DYE VL Technology is our laser of choice for treating pigmented and vascular lesions in our patients.

How it works
The Dye-VL treatment is an accelerated Advanced Fluorescence Technology (AFT) Photofacial that treats vascular and pigmented lesions on almost all skin types. It delivers optimal energy right to the blood vessels, closing them off and, as a result, drastically reducing and in some cases even removing the appearance of small veins from the skin. This Dye-VL treatment is a safe, targeted treatment with minimal downtime and is most commonly used on the body, face, and neck.
Most common treatments areas:
• Vascular and pigmented lesions
• Port wine stains
• Venous malformation
The DYE VL’s 500-600 nm wavelength is narrow band, allowing us to target only the melanin in the pigmented lesion or blood vessel.
The pigmented lesion is exposed to short pulses of visible light, which sharply raises the temperature in the highly concentrated melanin – just enough to shatter the cells containing the melanin. The body then replaces these cells with new cells generated by the surrounding untreated area
The DYE VL module uses Alma Laser’s proprietary IN-Motion™ protocol that helps maximize patient comfort and minimize the risk of unwanted side effects. There is very little downtime after your treatment.
Advanced Fluorescence Technology (AFT) differs slightly from the technology used for Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). While IPL is more of a spiked wave, AFT is rather a flat wave. As a result, the likelihood of adverse side effects, which can occur with other pulsed light systems, is reduced.
While you can see the first results following your first treatment, you will normally require three to five sessions, about four weeks apart, to see the full results.
